RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of key water infrastructure projects. The role involves cost management, contract administration, and commercial reporting across all project phases. You will work closely with engineering, procurement, and delivery teams to ensure projects are commercially efficient, contractually compliant, and completed within budget.
This role is ideal for a QS with experience in civil engineering or utilities and a strong understanding of contracts such as NEC and frameworks such as AMP.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.

Measure and value works, both on-site and from drawings, including variations and change control.

Prepare interim valuations, final accounts, and assist in the preparation of claims and dispute resolution.

Administer contracts (primarily NEC3/4) including early warning notices, compensation events, and risk registers.

Support procurement activities, including the preparation of tender documents and evaluation of subcontractor bids.

Maintain accurate records of work done, materials used, and compliance with contractual obligations.

Liaise with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.

Produce and present monthly cost/value reconciliations and commercial reports.

Monitor project performance, highlighting risks and opportunities to the commercial manager.
Requirements:
Essential:
-
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.

Proven experience as a QS in the water, utilities, or civil engineering sectors.

Solid understanding of NEC contracts and other standard forms.

Strong analytical, numerical, and negotiation skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and cost management software.

Good communication and team-working skills.
Desirable:

Working knowledge of AMP regulatory frameworks and TOTEX models.

Experience working with UK water companies and Tier 1 contractors.

Member or working towards membership of RICS, ICES, or similar professional body.
